Project Description
The design is inspired by the adjacent Shahe River and uses dynamic lines in the double-layer curtain wall system to outline the unique geographical beauty. The façade uses interwoven ribbons to create a variety of interspersed interior and exterior spaces. The positive spaces become a featured display with lighting effect while the negative spaces become an al-fresco dining area with greenery, connecting the retail mall with the streetscape. Viewing from the street levels, the repetitive pattern on the façade suggests a continuation of the free-flowing lines, reflecting the optimistic, open-minded attitude of Chengdu citizen with the aesthetics of nature.
The interior space is run through by an atrium corridor covered with glass skylights of different shapes, scales and themes, forming areas with varying light and shadow changes to provide an ever-changing spatial experiences to the visitors. The two ends of the free-form glass skylight are designed as a featured canopy, creating an eye-catching entrance to the rooftop garden, adding visual elements while effectively connecting the outdoor leisure and dining areas on the rooftop with the commercial spaces on the lower floors.
