Project Description
The slightly elevated flooring at the entrance provides a sense of ritual when walking into the abode. Instead of a traditional stainless-steel door, the wood door instantly heats up the space with its warm texture. Upon opening the door, different flooring materials designate the mud area at the entryway. Wood in light tones is extended to the wall and ceiling from the floor, setting a visually mild tone and creating a stress-free atmosphere. At the same time, the intrusive structural beams are hidden.
A half-height low wall along with translucent glass forms the wall behind the sofa. The glass separates the spaces without blocking sight, making the living room and dining room independent yet connected. The dining room is located on a half level above the ground floor. Adding this mezzanine floor to a layout and integrating the kitchen and dining functions in the hallway, the design can maximize the use of space. Besides, the fields are clearly demarcated by the change of vertical heights. To avoid a sense of oppression, neutral gray and white colors echo the simple and pure tone in the space.
