Lotus Island Art Museum

The Lotus Island Art Museum is located on Lotus Island in Putuo District, Zhoushan City, Zhejiang Province, China. The project is located on a deserted island in a harsh environment, facing difficulties such as typhoons and waves, no grass growing, no transportation, water, heating and electricity and any construction machinery. Fortunately, the design team was inspired by the beach rocks, vines, rocks and tiles on the deserted island. By integrating these basic elements of nature, the design team was able to create a work of unity between man and nature with the appearance of the sea.

The whole project is built around the idea of harmonious development of tradition, nature and human beings. The design is based on the local culture of life, using the most primitive hand-made way, combining natural elements such as waste green tiles, white walls, beach stones, mao stones and bronze sculptures, to shape a large marine earth art building with sea elements, Zen culture and artistic shape, which unites heaven, earth, sea and human beings.
