Project Description

The Hong Kong West Kowloon Station is an underground high speed rail station and is sitting immediately adjacent to Victoria Harbour. It serves as a gateway connecting the high-speed rail network in Mainland China.

The station design was inspired by the idea of forces converging on Hong Kong – wind, pedestrian flows, traffic and tracks coming into the station. The station has an enormous central atrium with a height of 45 metres high. The station roof is supported by only 9nos. tree-like columns, lifting up 4,000 glass panels filling the station with ample daylight, so passengers do not feel like being underground whilst inside the station, and allowing them to view The Peak from the lower levels of the station.

The station also adopts a people centric design. The creation of a 3.5 hectare public park provide direct access to waterfront promenade of West Kowloon Cultural District. A popular accessible roof is also provided as a give back to the community. The viewing deck at the top of the roof (25 metres above ground) is a photo-taking spot, offering passengers a magnificent view towards Victoria Harbour and the Hong Kong Skyline during both daytime and nighttime.
