Project Description
Our next-generation has to adapt to different belief systems and customs as we learn to let go of traditions that formed a part of our formative heritage and cultures. I hope this project can act as bridges for traditional crafts and modern culture to evolve and co-exist within our ever-changing landscape.
The goal is to introduce and encourage our younger generations to explore the essence of our cultural heritage and to stir interest by having readers to partake as co-authors to continue to record our craftsmen’s story.
Unique features: To enhance the parent-child reading experience–the main book allows parents to understand better and share the crafts’ values with their children while reading the storybook together; To better support language development–the accordion storybook allows an English or Chinese version, instead of having two languages on the same page.
The main book is designed in a folded form to signify the folding of traditional trades and the straight front edge (cut manually) demonstrates the perfection of craftsmanship even when the business is folding. The storybook measuring 5.5 meters in length posted a challenge of matching the colour tone across all pages
