Project Description

The key to achieving a perfect combination of oriental furniture and modern design is the balance of colours, patterns and materials. Integrating the old goods into the new design is difficult because there has to be some give and take. For example, to match the dark coloured and densely textured antique furniture, the designer has to use light colour flooring and household wares to strike a balance. By using lighting with a modern design, the quaint feeling becomes elegance. With the owners’ different collection preferences, the designer pays extra attention to zoning. The oiling painting in the living room and the ink-jet printed artwork in the dining room are separated by the Manchurian stained-glass panel. A number of calligraphy works created in late Qing dynasty are hanging on the corridor wall. Walking through the corridor makes you feel travelling back in time to an ancient school.
