Project Description
The poster illustrates an application of B-Spline and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) to a comprehension of master arts. A CAD model of the pot shown in the famous painting by Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres was constructed using B-Spline, and water flows out of the pot was simulated using ANSYS Fluent, a CFD software package. The research finds that (a) cubic B-Spline can fit the profile of the pot with as a lower number of nodes than other B-Spline); (b) the profile of the pot has G3 continuity; (c) the tilting angle of the pot is perfect for just letting the water, shown as blue ribbon, flow out of the pot completely without excessive tilting. These findings have verified Ingres’ deep observation and understanding of behaviours, and demonstrates that B-Spline and CFD can form an excellent combination of science and arts and provide a powerful tool for creating and analyzing arts.
